CONTINUE TO DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS COUNTY-WIDEBy Scott MillerCandidate for Sheriff/Coroner; County of Monterey | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
During my term as Sheriff we have worked on building excellent relationships with our diverse communities as well as our law enforcement partners. Public safety works best with engaged partnerships. As Sheriff I'll continue to lead the way in analyzing the opportunities to consolidate and combine law enforcement services throughout Monterey County. We can't afford to let geographic and political boundaries dominate the way we provide public safety services. We need to continue to work on creative problem-solving and new ideas as to how Monterey County law enforcement works together for the benefit of the public. Many small police departments throughout the county struggle whenever they have to deal with a major crime or crime wave within their jurisdiction. As Sheriff I have consistently provided assistance and coordination when a multi-agency response was indicated to assist smaller departments and communities. Equally as important are the relationships we have built with our communities throughout the County. From Pajaro to Big Sur, from Chualar to Castroville we have worked hard to gain the respect and trust of our neighborhoods and residents. Public safety services work best when we all work together. Restoring trust between the Sheriff's Office and communities was job one. Significant progress has been made. This process will continue forward under my watch. |
