Candidate for
Council Member; City of Brea

Steve Vargas is a former Councilmember of the City of Brea, 1998 to 2002. Other governmental service includes Senior Community Officer for Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration and service as an Executive Assistant to the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

His past community service experience includes; Latino Advisory Board for Mission Hospital, Orange County Housing & Community Development Advisory Board, Orange County Library Board and service as Commander, Brea American Legion (1995) and Brea Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander (2010).

Educational background includes: Bachelor of Science degree work in Nuclear Technology, Excelsior College, N.Y, Associate of Science, Electro-Mechanical Drafting & Design, Palomar College and A.S., Maintenance Technology, Gavilan College.

Steve has fifteen years of naval service, six - active duty as a submarine diver and the past nine as a Reservist. He has deployed oversees twice, once to Lebanon/Grenada and a one year deployment in Iraq to Fallujah and Al Anbar Province. He is currently a Chief Petty Officer with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Twenty Two and has been selected for Commissioning to Chief Warrant Officer 2 on November 1st.
