Enact term limits (2 terms, 8 years maximum) for Board Directors, televise meetings to ensure transparency, oppose efforts to bring back defunct bonus program. My strong business background and outside experience will bring a fresh perspective to the DSRSD Board. My expectation is that DSRSD performs as well as a competitive, private sector corporation. I will not support efforts to bring back the now defunct "pay for performance" bonus program at DSRSD. I believe these bonuses created a conflict of interest by incentivizing management to raise rates, were a distraction to the organization, and did not lead to better outcomes for the ratepayers. Any excess revenue should go to reserves, infrastructure, and/or be returned to ratepayers in the form of lower rates. Since I have no personal, political, or economic ties to DSRSD, other than the fact that I live in the service area, I have the freedom to make the best decisions for DSRSD customers. Unlike other state and local government positions, there currently are no term limits for DSRSD Board Directors. I believe that a 2-term limit (8 years maximum) is critical to preserving the integrity and impartiality of the board. To increase transparency, all open session board meetings should be recorded and made available to the public on DSRSD's website. I believe this is a fundamental step necessary to hold both management and the board accountable for their actions. |
