Ed graduated from Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona in 1966 and attended Glendale College on a track scholarship.

After graduation he went on to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona on another track scholarship. Later, he transferred to Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona where he met an entrepreneur who asked him to invest with him in a company which then took an existing chain of 60 restaurants and built another 176 units across the southern United States.

When the chain was sold to the Marriott Corporation Ed took some time out to cruise on his 45 foot ketch sailboat "Fantasy".

His love of boats and the ocean lead Ed to the Yacht Brokerage business.

Ed has been the Owner of the Malibu International Yacht Brokerage and licensed since 1989.

In 2000, Ed met his soul mate Laura and they were married on November 9, 2002.

Shortly after their marriage Ed and Laura moved from Beverly Hills to their new home in Malibu.
