Committed Leader Ed has been a committed civic volunteer in Malibu well before running for any political office. He is Chairman of the Malibu Planning Commission (currently serving 2009-2010 term as Chair). He was appointed to the Malibu Planning Commission as Vice-Chairman in 2008 by the current Mayor of Malibu. He served as President of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce in 2007. He serves on the Malibu Zoning Ordinance Revisions and Code Enforcement Subcommittee (ZORACES). He served on the City of Malibu Task Force for the Legacy Park project. He spoke before the California Coastal Commission and twice before the State Lands Commission in opposition to the BHP Billiton's proposal for the Cabrillo Port LNG terminal off Malibu coast. He joined Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at Pepperdine for the signing of AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Community Involvement Ed worked with the Malibu Chamber of Commerce on many events and served on their Board of Directors for 5 years. He has been a member of the California State Sheriff's Association since 2003. Endorsed Measure RR to protect our schools without raising taxes. Supported Measure BB to get more money for our schools. Endorsed Senator Fran Pavley, at her committee's request, for her run for Senate. Ed, and his lovely wife, Laura are active members of the Malibu Presbyterian Church and have volunteered to be a Deacon for the church. He and Laura contribute to: Ø Malibu Hope Ranch Animal Rescue Ø Malibu Little League Ø Friends of Malibu Urgent Care Center Ø The Malibu Green Machine Ø Malibu Symphony Association Ø Boys and Girls Club of Malibu Ø Malibu High School Shark Fund Ø Malibu Methodist Nursery School Ø California Philharmonic Orchestra Ø League to Save Lake Tahoe Ø Make-A-Wish Foundation Ø Doctors Without Borders Ø Child Help and others. Vision For Malibu As a member of the Malibu City Council Ed promises to: Ø Initiate programs to make Malibu more "fire safe" and prevent overnight Ø Assure the City of Malibu makes fiscally responsible decisions with the maximum Ø Assure that all options are explored to cleanup our bay and resolve the States' Ø Fight to make Pacific Coast Highway safer through a review of current Ø Fight to maintain the rural charm of our precious Malibu. Recent Honors Recipient of the "City of Malibu Certificate of Commendation" from Mayor Jeff Jennings in 2007. Recipient of the "County of Los Angeles Certificate of Commendation" from Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky in 2008. Recipient of the "State of California Certificate of Recognition" from Assemblywoman Julia Brownley in 2007 and again in 2008 Nominated for the 2009 citizens of the year Dolphin Award.
