ONLY IN COTATI A few weeks ago when I stepped outside to breathe in the fresh smell of morning rain I found a surprise in the driveway. There was a bike- my husband's bike in fact which had been stolen a few days earlier out of our backyard. That is one of the reasons I love Cotati you just never know what will happen- there is always something just around the corner. This is one of the reasons I'm running for the Cotati City Council if the recall is successful. Just in case you don't know who I am- I am Linell Hardy and I have lived in Cotati since 1978. I remember the first time I traveled to Cotati, a crisp fall day in Oct., I remember the feeling of awe I had turning off the freeway and driving down West Sierra seeing the sheep in a pasture. Knowing in my heart I had arrived and this was the place. Since that day I have moved four times but always in Cotati, can you remember why you came here to this place? Now Cotati is faced with some tough times and will need innovative thinking, compromise and cooperation to right itself in the seas of stormy financial storm. Business as usual will not see us through we need to think beyond the box and work together to build a solid foundation for the future. Communication and thoughtful deliberation are essential, as Chair of the Planning Commission it is my job to make sure that everyone has a chance to voice their opinion and have it considered in the deliberations. I look forward to meeting the citizens of Cotati as I walk the neighborhood during my campaign. You won't see any flashy flyers or expensive ads from me, my plan is to keep it be frugal and get my message out there with foot power. Recently I was looking through some old mementos and came across a few poems that my dear friend Dale Shabacon wrote for me on my birthday the first year we lived in Cotati and I would like to share one here.
