Economic Development and Job CreationBy Jack WhelanCandidate for County Council; County of Delaware | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Mario Civera and Jack Whelan are committed to creating a favorable economic environment on the county level that will help spur business growth and attract new businesses to region, leading to improved wage and new job opportunities for area residents. As small business owners, both Mario and Jack know that small businesses are a major economic driver on the local level and will continue to work to make Delaware County a great place to own and operate a business. Both Mario and Jack are also strong advocates of workforce investment efforts and job training programs. The goal of these efforts is to provide local residents with the skills and training to fit the job needs of local businesses. Earlier this year, Jack worked with his fellow members of County Council to organize a major job fair with area businesses that are hiring for a range of positions, even in these difficult economic times. The event was a great success and helped many residents who are unemployed or under-employed find job opportunities that they may not otherwise have known exist. Mario Civera supported this effort and will continue to support such initiatives as a member of County Council. |
