- Danville is approximately 94% built out and I do not support expanding our borders to accommodate additional growth. I support a firm urban limit line. I am the only candidate or councilmember living in East Danville and experience daily the frustration of traffic and congestion caused by too rapid growth.
- I support quality infill projects (both residential and commercial) to enhance our community. Any projects approved must be compatible with our small-town atmosphere and in character with their existing neighborhoods. We need to continue to maintain our open space and restrict hillside development.
- I do not support any further large-scale development in the Tassajara Valley. An appropriate balance must be reached between a property owner's rights and the negative impact additional growth will have on Danville.
- I am an effective leader and advocate for Danville on regional growth issues. I have solid advocacy skills developed through my experience and training as both a lawyer and a councilmember.
- Serving on the Dougherty Valley Oversight Committee, I am ensuring that Dougherty Valley will continue to be built pursuant to the terms of a settlement agreement. Main roads leading in and out of the Valley need to be built as planned so that cars will not end up diverted on to Danville's streets. Schools and commercial centers need to be built on schedule so that our citizens are not impacted. Recreation facilities need to be built as planned so that our parks will not become overcrowded. Public transportation must be provided to the Valley immediately so that new residents can take advantage of it from the outset and not get set into commuting patterns of only using their cars.
- Much of the congestion and traffic we experience in Danville is caused by our rapidly growing neighboring communities. Any new development impacting Danville must be required to fully mitigate its effect on Danville before it is allowed to proceed.
- It is essential that Danville continue to take a leadership role and work cooperatively with the County and other cities and agencies in identifying where there will be regional growth in transportation, housing and employment. This collaboration needs to be balanced with the local control each jurisdiction has the right to assert over its own planning and future.
