Collegial NegotiationsBy Dean ReeceCandidate for Board Member; Santa Maria Joint Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Each school district receives a specified amount of funds from the state based on average daily attendance of students. The district and employee unions must work collaborativey to direct these funds in many important directions.Collaborative bargaining has been a part of the negotiations process in the district for at least 10 years. That process has deteriorated somewhat with the increase in health costs and smaller amounts of funds being distributed by the state. All entities must recognize district-wide needs and not necessarily individual wishes. |
