Adequate space to house staff and studentsBy Dean ReeceCandidate for Board Member; Santa Maria Joint Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
There is an immediate need to implement a plan to construct another high school to meet the needs of a growing student population.Construction on a third high school will begin this year with occupancy expected in two years. A long range modernization procedure is in process at both Santa Maria and Righetti High Schools. However, the modernization task does not create additional space at either site. The main emphasis will be to return both sites to levels of usage in the early '90's. This means students and staff can begin to park on campus again thus reducing problems in neighborhoods close to the schools. With the completion of the new high school, Righetti and Santa Maria will continue to be schools of 2000+ and will continue to be overcrowded. A fourth high school must come in the near future. |
