Political Philosophy for William P. "Bill" Hughes
Candidate for |

|
I believe that character and morality are of utmost importance in selecting someone for elected office, and thus our president falls far short. Our leader should be someone we can look up to. I believe that most Americans are conservative. We just have to convince them to vote the way they believe, conservatively, for Republicans. I am a strict constitutionalist. The most effective government is that closest to the people where an individual's voice is more clearly heard. I believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of results. There should be no preference for or discrimination against anyone based on race, creed, age, sex or national origin. There should be no hyphenated Americans. We're all just Americans, but we should be proud of our ancestry. I worked for the English for the Children Initiative believing that those who do not learn English quickly are at a great disadvantage. English should truly become the official language of the U.S. We should also be allowed to be the best we can be, not overburdened by excessive regulation and taxes. I also oppose partial birth abortion and support the Protection of Marriage Initiative. |
