Public office is a public trust. It cannot be sold to the highest bidder. Campaign reform is needed now.
Public office is not for sale to the highest bidder, but a worthy service to the people. When a candidate accepts large donations during the campaign and is elected, it is almost taken for granted in the present system that it is
"pay back time." This corrupts government, as it caters to the powerful and elite donors instead of the public good.
If elected, I shall work to propose the best candidates our party can find. In some of the elected persons we have witnessed glaring defects of character, fundamental honesty and morality. There have been egregious failures in both major parties, and it is time to consider other options. I favor limiting political contributions from individuals and businesses and limited but sufficient public funding for campaigns so that a good person of modest means can serve the public trust for which a candidate may aspire. I favor publicly funded debates among all candidates, not only among the two major parties. The people need to hear the views of ALL, not just some of the candidates. Then, after hearing ALL these views, let the voters decide who of them will best serve the country.
