Katrina Manning has been a resident of the City of Hawthorne for over 25 years. She is a Realtor and small business owner of "Homes By Katrina" (HBK) , wife, mother and a proud Community leader. She also teaches First Time Home Buyers workshops to help people create long-term wealth through real estate. Having experience as a Bookkeeper for over 20 years for small business start up's and a stock option administrator for a traded public company, she has a track record of business success and the ability to balance finances. In 2011, Mayor Guidi appointed her as a commissioner to the City of Hawthorne's Board of Parks & Recreation. She was elected to the board of directors for the California Association of Parks & Recreation Commissioners and Board Members (CAPRCM). Manning also serves as a member of Hawthorne's Economic Development Board, and as board member and President of the Holly Park Homeowners Association (HPHA). In 2010, she founded " Movies in the Park" for the city of Hawthorne and she coordinated Holly Park's first annual "National Night Out" to help close the gap between residents, law enforcement, business owners and community leaders and in 2010. In addition, Manning was the Regional Coordinator for "Woman for Obama" for the City of Hawthorne and Inglewood. She is a member of the Hawthorne Women's club, Woman In Action, Hawthorne/LAX/Lennox Rotary Club and a delegate for the 62nd district California Democratic Party. Her advocacy and leadership also resulted in the installation of speed bumps on 116th Street and Casmir to protect children during their walk to school. In continuing her to advocate for the community her leadership led to new benches, tables and signage for Holly Park and the implementation of new curb improvement at Cimarron Elementary for their safety valet program. Additionally, she was a mentor for teens at City of Hawthorne Teen Center and volunteered for South Bay One Stop Youth & Career Center where she taught job interviewing skills. She also speaks at schools to kids about the importance of being civically engaged in their community. Manning has also served as Commissioner for Hawthorne Parks and Recreation, Chair of Neighborhood Watch and member of The Economic Development Council. As President of Holly Park Home Owners Associations fought for new speed humps on 116th & Casmir in 2013. Tested over 400 kids and gave away free glasses at Lennox School district for Vision to Learn through Hawthorne/Lax/Lennox Rotary Club in 2014/2015. Produced "National Night Out" for the city of Hawthorne, where I was able to bring eight local homeowners association, over 300 residents and Congresswoman Waters presented them with a certificate. Gave away 400 toys to Cimmaron Elementary for Xmas in 2014. VOLUNTEER: Tested over 400 kids for glasses at Lennox School District for "Vision to Learn." Volunteered to be a judge for Lennox School District to give away teacher mini-grants. Volunteered in Hawthorne to assist with the distribution of in the HE Low Flush Toilet. Did Mock Interviews at Hawthorne Teen Centered.
