Making SFS available to all at anytime of the day, anywhere...
Streaming and Scheduling
I wish it were possible to be two places at one time, scheduling can be tough, at least once or twice a week I either have a meeting here in Santa Fe Springs or some type of event, volunteer or job related going on, sometimes I just can't be two places at one time.
I would like to encourage the city of Santa Fe Springs to start live streaming City Council meetings, Planning and Traffic commission meetings, Police Services, Recreation and so on, imagine being able to connect live from your desktop, laptop, tablet or handheld device! The people who would benefit the most are the residents; also the added transparency could cast a positive light on our city.
People are busy, kids, jobs, family gatherings, many simply just can't get out on a given day for whatever reason. Seniors would appreciate this added outlet to receive information, as more are involved with the internet and social media. Being unable to attend an event shouldn't mean completely missing out on vital information being delivered by SFS and many of its volunteer organizations.
Another main topic in meetings that I attend is "How do we get the people to come out", and "How can we increase the amount of attendance", sure the numbers are ok but I know we can do more than just ok, we must do better.
It may be a lot to ask to look at the calendar of events for schools and groups locally and try to come up with ideas on how to balance the scheduling, I know that nearly 2,000 people attended last week's Santa Fe football game on the same evening the mariachis performed at Heritage Park!, again, many others, myself included wish we were able to attend both events. Our city would benefit greatly by looking at this early on by trying to schedule things to the best of their ability. I realize that it would be impossible to accommodate everyone, but I know it would be a great first step in the right direction.
Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend,
