I moved to Santa Cruz in October, 1989, and quickly became involved in community work, organizing Santa Cruz LGBT Pride for 17 years, co-chairing the campaigns against Prop 22 in 2000 and Prop 8 in 2008, and co-founding The GLBT Alliance of Santa Cruz County.
My wife, Natalie, and I moved to Lompico in 2003; in 2007, I became concerned about the state of the Lompico County Water District, and began attending Board meetings; I've attended about 90% of the meetings since then.
In 2010, the Board, realizing that the water district cannot sustain itself with just 500 homes, approached SLVWD about consolidation. At that time, the LCWD Board created the Citizens Advisory Committee to advise it on the direction of the merger, and to communicate with Lompico residents; I was appointed to the CAC, and have served on it since.
