OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE DANVILLE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Questionable Definition of Economic Vitality
With the current Danville Hotel Improvement Plan, the vast majority of small businesses are declining in the midst of a "pardon our dust" environment. At a recent "Mornings with the Mayor" it was claimed that someone is spreading a myth that Danville Small Businesses are struggling. At the same meeting both the Chamber of Commerce and Discover Danville Business Association discussed the "loss of Danville foot traffic" and reality of "struggling businesses." Additionally, small businesses are asked to "hold on" for another 14 months as we struggle to pay rent and meet payroll. The "myth" is our reality.

How I would address. As a Danville small business owner I would represent both Danville business establishments and Danville residents who enjoy shopping, dining and visiting downtown. I am developing a Town-wide Loyalty Card Program entitled, Shop & Dine for Kids, designed to drive revenue and traffic for downtown small businesses and support Danville's dollar starved schools. With Shop & Dine for Kids, businesses win, schools win and Danville wins
