DEFEND CITIZEN VOICE and MANDATE OF OPEN SPACEBy Tony R. AdamichCandidate for Council Member; Town of Danville | |

Questionable Decision MakingA Contra Costa Superior Court Judge has ruled that the Town Council improperly approved rezoning of Magee Ranch to allow Summerhill homes to build a residential development. The "right" next step would be moving the issue to a public vote. But rather than follow the 75% supported Danville Voter mandate of Measure S, the incumbents are now arrogantly appealing Judge Austin's ruling. Why did the Town Council not take the issue to a public vote? How I would address. A vote for me is a vote against developments similar to the earlier Elworthy Ranch KB Homes Project and recent Summerhill debacle. The unseating of an incumbent will represent a mandate that the Council drop its appeals of Judge Austin's ruling. Danville needs Town Council members that want residents to have a voice in important decisions and supports maintaining the open land we have today for our children and their families long into the future. |
