Mark Orozco is a second-generation Mexican American, born and raised in the Inland Empire. As a child, Mark saw firsthand the pain caused by our broken immigration policies. Forced to abruptly return to Mexico, Mark's father left the family to fend for themselves. As a young man living in a single parent home, he witnessed firsthand the struggles of working families and the opportunities that a good education can provide. Mark learned the importance of commitment and hard work from his mother who held three jobs to make ends meet, taught him that hard work and service to others pave the path to success.

Mark was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. Mark attended local public schools, graduated from U.C Santa Cruz, and continued on his education. Two years later Mark met his wife Olivia, a teacher, and through her inspiration, Mark elected to continue his training by earning his teaching credential and completing a Master's in Education. In 2005, Mark moved to Beaumont with his wife and three daughters. Mark immediately took an active interest in the growing community and local civic issues in the county. In 2008, he was the first elected to the Beaumont School Board.

While serving on the Beaumont Unified School District Board, Mark helped lead the effort to secure $125 million in funding to modernize classrooms and improve school safety. As a classroom teacher, Mark worked to ensure students are prepared for college or a career by pushing to raise classroom standards + emphasizing academic achievement as well as character building and life skills in the classroom.

Mark has earned the respect of fellow small business owners across the region and chairs the largest Chambers of Commerce in the Inland Empire, where he workes to promote small business initiatives. In addition, Mark holds veterans and their families close to his heart and has fought for community recognition of our local heroes in uniform. Mark believes that we support our families by investing in them through improved education, new job initiatives, and development of local infrastructure.
