Marcellus Shale Gas IssueBy Tom CasciolaCandidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 46; Democratic Party | |

Communities divided over drilling impactsMarcellus Shale gas drilling is unquestionably the most pressing issue for Pennsylvanians. Serious work needs to be undertaken to balance the rights of gas leaseholders and impacted citizens on both sides of the issue. Drilling and gas processing have an enormous potential to affect the lives of all of our citizens. Many have talked about it for years - lawsuits have worked their way through the courts, yet the discord remains. It seems that nothing has been accomplished. I have a wealth of zoning knowledge and experience and can effectively guide the administration, the legislature, and the DEP toward consensus on a fair and effective approach to address the concerns of all sides involved. |
