Using data to inform decisions will create better outcomes for everyoneConstituents of the School Board, like you, deserve an efficient, effective, and equitable educational system that stems from data-driven decision-making. The alternative is to allow the unsupported emotional preferences of a few individuals to drive the district. This diverts attention and resources from more important educational concerns and costs taxpayers money. For example, the Democratic School Board majority's recent decision to add Full Day Kindergarten was pushed through before demographic, educational, economic and facilities studies were completed to define the true costs and educational trade-offs. Instead, we would have focused attention on the very obvious imbalances across the elementary schools before adding this program. The Republican slate of candidates--Susan Michaelson, Dave Falcone, Martin Heldring and me, Valentine Link--will focus on strengthening the operational core of our School District by using data-driven decision-making to improve outcomes for everyone |
