Business and Fiscal ResponsibilityBy Joshua L "Josh" WhitfieldCandidate for Council Member; City of Waterford | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Josh's Positions on Fiscal and Business Issues. With the economy and financial hardship our entire state faces, it is critical that Waterford remains a good steward of tax payer dollars. I will not support any budgets that are not balanced or spending items that were not prioritized. The best way to bring in new revenue for the City is to attract more businesses, more consumers and new residents, not through tax increases. I will also work to help maintain and expand the City's financial reserves. I will be a staunch defender of Waterford businesses. As a city we must do everything we can to remove government burden on our small businesses. The last thing any small business needs is more regulation or taxation for government. While there is little anyone can do about the policy making in Sacramento or Washington D.C., as a member of the Waterford City Council you can count on my promise to defend our business owners at the local level. I am also for adding new businesses and jobs to our town when we can. We must work to continue to improve our business environment to attract new businesses. We must also do our best to protect current businesses in town as well. Growth for growth sake may not be in the best interest of the town. Smart controlled growth will be my watch words on the council. |
