Ed Eby's Goals for the NCSD

By Ed Eby

Candidate for Director; Nipomo Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate
As an informed, experienced, and effective Director for eight years Ed Eby can help the NCSD continue to provide a low-cost, reliable supply of fresh water.
Nipomo's biggest problem is an impending water crisis if we don't start importing water. Our well levels are dropping and this invites seawater intrusion that will poison our water supply. The experts tell us this is true and point to Oceano, Los Osos, the Salinas Valley, and Ventura, as examples.

We have a citizens committee taking a fresh look at all the alternatives to importing water. After their report we will act. I do not support any alternative that will raise our property taxes.

I will push for keeping our water rates among the lowest in the county, one-third that of Avila Beach and the city of SLO. We need to trim our pension costs for new employees to match those of private industry. We need to find ways to reduce our electricity bills with solar power or reclaiming energy from the sewer plant.

If I am re-elected and Craig Armstrong joins the board we will have an informed and effective team in place to continue to give Nipomo a clean, low cost, and reliable water supply.
