Most of out schools have below average ratings and many are ranked the worst possible.To help promote literacy, I have helped with the Raising-A-Reader program which is a national nonprofit organization that helps families successfully build and sustain literacy routines in the home through donations from partners. These donations are used to provide materials and training to schools, parents and children to circulate high quality books throughout the classrooms in five year cycles. I am hoping to expand this program into the City of El Cajon to protect our children from the high risk of illiteracy they have been exposed to. By giving the tool of education, we are preparing them for a successful future and driving them away from future criminal activity. Also, higher school ratings boost Real Estate beacuse people want to live where their children have access to a good education. This will cause a chain reaction which will lead to a cleaner and safer El Cajon. |
