Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Cruz

180/180 Project =Mental Health Outreach Workers, Housing Medically Fragile, Homeward Bound component & "We Can Take Care of our Own" policies and procedures.
180/180 project is something that the City has begun to implement and has not fully implemented all the components. I would like to see all components come to fruition. I want Mental Health Outreach Workers doing assessments in downtown Santa Cruz on those with behavioral problems. If someone is Medically Fragile, meaning they have gone to Dominican Hospital four times or more in a month, we house them, it is cheaper for the tax payer to house these people than to keep "Treating & Streeting" them. If they appear to have a behavioral problem and they are deemed, not a resident of Santa Cruz they get escorted home=Homeward Bound Project. If they are "Our Own" we get them the mental health, substance abuse counseling or/and transitional housing and job training, etc. If every community took care of their own, we would have safe communities. Santa Cruz can no longer afford to take care of everyone, but we can take care of our own.
