Candidate for
Board Member; Union School District

As a school board member, my political philosophy is simple: the needs of our children transcend all other political issues. To put the educational needs of our children first, we need to have excellent teachers and staff, train them well, and let them do what they do with the best support possible.

Many people are appropriately concerned about taxes. Our district keeps our requests to the community for tax dollars as minimal as possible. My colleagues and I recently voted to refinance district bonds, which will result in a savings of about a million dollars to district taxpayers. We must do what is necessary to protect our schools, but at the same time we must respect the taxpayers who support us and make sure that we are not a burden to them.

We need to keep up with the latest advancements in technology, but we also need to recognize that nothing can ever replace the relationship between a student and a qualified, caring teacher.
