Mitigate the impact of the Highway 101 in Motion projectBy Fred ShawCandidate for Council Member; City of Carpinteria | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Ensuring protection of our wetlands and nature trails and providing access to our local businesses is a priority for me.Continued dialogue between the Council and Caltrans can ensure traffic flow by not having consecutive off and on ramp closures that would bring vehicles onto residential streets. As a Council we can push for continued funding for bike and walking trails, as well as limiting incursion into our wetlands by helping design an environmentally sensitive highway grid. Living adjacent to our Salt Marsh Nature Park, I revel in the early morning tranquility surrounding me. Preserving this treasure for walkers, birders and other visitors is very important to Carpinteria. I have been participating in the local Highway 101 in Motion meetings. |
