Council Member; City of San Jacinto

I have a vision for the future of this great city...I have a vision of jobs and businesses coming to San Jacinto and of a city living within its means. These visions are within our reach and it is up to us to take the Action that will make these visions a reality.

According to the 2012-2013 budget "this year's budget includes an unprecedented use of the reserves". Reserve spending is not an option. We need to control the budget and not let it control us. We need to bring new businesses into the Valley and to bring sales to the current businesses.

There are two things that we have an abundance of...land and buildings. My plan includes bringing Hollywood Production Companies to San Jacinto. I have already met several times with producers who are interested in bringing their projects here to San Jacinto. It will take a little work, but we can do this. The television show Breaking Bad wanted to come to Riverside County but we lost it to New Mexico because they couldn't strike a deal. Let's look at what we have lost. We lost approximately 3 million dollars an episode. Now Breaking Bad is in season 5. They do 13 episodes a year. That's approximately $39 million per year and $195 million over the 5 years. Think about the amount of money that goes into the New Mexico economy. New Mexico is now reaping the rewards of the tourism that comes along with this. Their local residence are being hired and trained to work at that production company. Their local businesses are thriving and their hotels and restaurants are filling because of all the people that are needed for that production company. That can be San Jacinto and the Valley. We can do this.

Finding new ways to generate revenue without raising taxes and without taking 10 years to do something has to be a high priority for the new city council. On July 17, 2012 according to the City Manager if deficit spending continues at the current rate the city of San Jacinto will be out of money on 9/2/2017. That is 5 years from now! If we continue to wait this out and spend the way we are spending we will be following Stockton and we don't have to do it. We can make changes that will spur the growth of this community and they can be done in a fairly quick amount of time. By increasing our revenue it will allow us to put more police officers on the streets without raising taxes and we will be able to fund other projects that we have had to put on the back burner.

We are in tough economic times and tough decisions have to be made, but we can work together to solve the issues. We are Americans and as Americans we know how to pull together in a crisis. This is the time we have to pull together to save our town. You have a decision to make. To support someone who talks about all the things they are going to do for you or to support someone who is going to fight for you and your family. I am asking for your votes and support. It is now time for us to Take Action.
