Economic Development

By Brad James McGirr

Candidate for Council Member; City of Rancho Santa Margarita; 2 Year Short Term

I will continue my efforts to attract and maintain a strong business environment that will benefit all the residents of Rancho Santa Margarita
Our business environment is flourishing because RSM is a desired location for business development. Once again, RSM has been determined by the FBI to be the safest city in California for a city with a population of less than 50,000. Business owners know how safe our community is, and they recognize how attractive RSM is for a successful business enterprise.

During my tenure on the RSM Planning Commission, we have attracted numerous businesses including In-N-Out Burgers, BJ's Restaurant, Walmart Neighborhood Grocery Store, Embarcadero Restaurant, Bruxie, LA Boxing, and many others. Contrary to what some may say, RSM is a business friendly city, and I intend to keep it this way. The tax base provided by the presence of a strong business community enables Rancho Santa Margarita to provide a superior level of services and benefits to the residents of RSM.

Contrary to the positions of my opponent in this election, I am vehemently opposed to rent control or freezing of leases in order to attract business investment in the city of RSM. Such efforts have historically failed, leaving the citizens responsible for excess tax consequences and legal liability. We don't need gimmicks to attract business investment in our city...sound economic policies, a safe community and stable leadership has proven to be a strong reason for continued business development.
