Since moving to Marina in 1997, Steve has been involved in a wide variety of educational, business and community activities that have benefited the entire Marina community. In 2000 and 2001, Steve was elected President of the Marina Chamber of Commerce, and was asked back in 2006 as Co-President. While President, he, along with Marshall Reeves, oversaw the original promotional banner program (currently lining Del Monte Blvd. and Reservation Road), the original "Flavors of Marina" event, the expansion of the Annual Marina Chamber of Commerce Awards, and the introduction of the Marina International Festival of the Winds.

As Co-Creator and President of the Marina International Festival of the Winds (now going into its 14th year) Steve has encouraged participation by and raising awareness of local non-profits and businesses to Marina residents and the region. He and the Committee have worked tirelessly to keep the event free to the public and a family event for all to enjoy.

In 2002 Steve and his wife, Dorothy were asked to Co-Chair the Measure R campaign to finance the new Marina Library. They collaborated with community members who had worked long and hard in previous years to get the Measure on the ballot, and together they saw the successful passage of the Measure. Steve also went on to Chair the Construction Committee for the Library and served as the Master of Ceremonies at the new Library's grand opening in 2007. For their work on the new Marina Library and their efforts to save the Los Arboles Middle School Library, Steve and Dorothy were named the 2002 Citizens of the Year by the Marina Chamber of Commerce.

Steve has served on the Monterey Peninsula College Bond Oversight Committee (2008-2011) and currently serves on the Marina Economic Development Commission (2007- present). In November of 2009, Steve, Dorothy and a group of Marina community leaders came together to form The Marina Foundation. Now in its third year, The Marina Foundation was created as a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity to benefit the Marina community. The mission of the foundation is to help raise funds through donations and grants, that will benefit youth, teen, senior, and cultural programs in our city.

From a professional prospective, Steve is the Managing Partner of First Pacific Financial Services in Marina. The company is an asset management firm that works with individuals, companies and non-profits to manage their resources to accomplish their individual short and long-term goals and objectives. Steve started the firm in Monterey in 2006 and moved the office to Marina in 2009. Prior to starting his own business, Steve worked at Charles Schwab & Company and Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter. He attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and Santa Barbara City College and has a degree in Business Economics.

Steve is married to Dorothy and has helped to raise two incredible step sons, Max (Lake Forest College, 2009; Monterey Institute of International Studies, 2013) and Daniel (Loyola Marymount University, 2012).
