During Sherry's tenure on the MDUSD Board of Education, state budget reductions have forced drastic cuts to the education budgets, which forced elimination of programs and reduction in staff. MDUSD has been able to maintain a balanced budget throughout this difficult time.

Sherry supported Measure C that allowed solar panels to be placed on district sites so that savings could be made in electrical bills. Additionally, Measure C provided the following improvements:

• air conditioning to all of our schools which improved the learning environment for students and working conditions for staff
• improved technology infrastructure
• replacement of many portable buildings
• high school improvements such as science labs and exterior painting

Additionally during Sherry's time on the MDUSD board, a strategic plan has created. This was a collaborative effort with staff, parents, community members, and students.

Currently Sherry is involved in her neighborhood high school, Ygnacio Valley High School. She is PTA president, Athletic Booster secretary, and a member of the Site Council.

Prior to being elected to the Board of Education, Sherry has served on the Parent Faculty Committee and Site Council at Bancroft Elementary. She was also a member of the Site Council at Oak Grove Middle School and served as an officer on the PTA.
