Political Philosophy for Sherry Weinert Whitmarsh
Candidate for |
Our students deserve the best possible education MDUSD can offer. During difficult economical times preserving education is especially difficult. We need to ensure that any reductions from the budget are kept as far from the students as possible. Parents, staff, and community members should be involved in determining setting priorities for budget reduction as well as priorities for any fund increases. MDUSD is a diverse district. The Board of Education should set the policies and allow each school to implement those policies and programs in a manner that best serves the students attending the school. This allows each school to develop educational programs that enhances learning and allows students to graduate from our schools college or career ready. Communication is key to keeping parents, staff, and community members informed. This is an area that needs improvement throughout the district. Sherry holds a bachelor of science in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from California State University, Hayward. She is business consultant for an energy company. She has experience in working with diverse stakeholders, managing large budgets, and creating stakeholder engagements. She and her husband along with their two daughters live in Concord. |
