Board Member; Mount Diablo Unified School District

Debra Mason currently works part time for UC Cooperative Extension as a Healthy Living Program Coordinator. She also started a consulting business "Planting Seeds of Health" to provide techinical assistance to youth programs on program and youth development, particularly in the area of nutrition, gardening and physical activity. Debra provides trainings for program staff throughout California and presents at National Conferences on how to deliver quality programs for youth.

Prior to that Debra worked for sixteen years at Ambrose Recreation and Park District where she was a Recreational Supervisor overseeing 5 afterschool sites, a teen center and a 2 acre organic garden. She also worked for twenty two years as an Instructional Assistant for Mt Diablo Unified School District and was twice CSEA's Employee of the Year.

Debra was born and raised in the Bay Point Community where she and her children attended Mt Diablo Schools, she was very active in the schools her children attended serving on PTA's, PFC"s, site councils and other various committees that served not only her community but the district as a whole.

Debra has a long history of successful collaboration with multiple agencies her efforts helped to bring the Family Service Center, Health Clinic, afterschools programs and a garden classroom to the community. She become adept at building relationships and partnerships that are a beneficial to all involved.
