Phillip Arth is the founding partner of Arth & Associates, Certified Public Accountants. He has broad experience in taxation, business-related transactions and estate planning. Mr. Arth also provides litigation support to both defense and plaintiff legal counsel in business disputes and malpractice claims. Although he is not an attorney, by successfully completing an examination for Certified Public Accountants in 1980, Mr. Arth was admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, a singular distinction considering that less than 150 non-attorneys had passed the exam since it was instituted by the Treasury Department in 1942. Mr. Arth received his undergraduate education at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, and the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a B.A. His graduate studies were taken at Golden Gate University where he earned an M.B.A. in Taxation. Mr. Arth's background spans the public, private, educational, and community sectors of accounting and tax practice. Public Sector: Mr. Arth worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. and founded the professional practice of Arth & Associates, CPAs. He has also held a variety of positions within the California Society of CPAs, including membership on its Board of Directors. Private Sector: His career in the private sector brought Mr. Arth to the position of President of T/I Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company engaged in the manufacture and marketing of dermatological products. He also served as Manager of Taxes for Syntex Corporation, a multi-national company involved in the manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical and animal health products, fine chemicals, and analytical instruments Educational Sector: Mr. Arth has served as an Associate Professor lecturing in the Graduate School of Taxation at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. Community Sector: Mr. Arth is currently serving on the Town of Moraga's Audit & Finance Committee. He is also a past president of Moraga Movers and past Big SIR of Sons In Retirement Branch 171 in Moraga. |
