I was a Senate Fellow in the California State Senate in 1997-1998. I have worked for members of both aisles: Senators Bill Lockyer, Hilda Solis, and K. Maurice Johannessen. I also worked on several important legislations in the state legislature and Congress, including the federal welfare reform, federal immigration reform, Violence Against Women Act, adoption assistance, California's welfare reform, CALFED (California and the federal government's plan for water storage, water restoration, Bay-Delta restoration, and environmental protection), California water plan, moratorium on MTBE, and SMOG check II. I also successfully sponsored bills that were signed into law in the area of juvenile dependency (see SB 1226 (Johannessen) 1999-2000 session). Further, I have authored two articles in the California Lawyer's Magazine regarding juvenile dependency law. Moreover, I have several published California Court of Appeal opinions.
In addition, I am active in the City of Yorba Linda. I organized the residents of Vista Del Verde and gathered over five hundred signatures to oppose the City's proposal to build an equestrian facility in a master-planned golf course community. From this grass root activism, I started the Yorba Linda Gracious Living Society. I became innvolved in the affordable housing issue and the Town Center proposal in Yorba Linda. Moreover, I am the Neighborhood Watch Captain for the Vista Del Verde community. Currently, I provide regular email updates to Yorba Linda residents on city-wide issues and crime alerts.
