Accomplishments in Office:
- Completed redundant fiber project to provide secure, reliable broadband for Humboldt County
- Helped Cypress Grove find a site for their goat dairy so they could grow and expand
- Retained over 500 jobs in our fishing industry by approving funding for the new flake ice plant
- Put 583 residents to work through an ARRA-funded jobs program, with 40% finding permanent jobs
- Secured permanent protection for over 50,000 acres of working forests on the North Coast
- Assisted in the acquisition of key properties to help complete the Arcata Ridge Trail
- Established 5-day-a-week bus service for Southern Humboldt
- Protected access to quality childcare for 77 families and 61 employers
- Initiated the County's prescription drug discount program, saving residents an average of 60%
- Kept the County Coroner an independent, separately-elected office
- Established the Law Enforcement Liaison Committee
- Kept the Humboldt County General Plan Update moving forward against efforts to stop it
- Fought to preserve local recycling infrastructure and jobs
- Pushed for open and rational dialogue about medical marijuana here, in Sacramento and in DC
- Lobbied for passage of legislation to remove the 4 lower dams on the Klamath River
- Launched effort to establish a Humboldt County Community Forest on the McKay Tract
- Promoted Marine Highway program to Senators, Secretary LaHood and Coastal Counties
- Initiated the County's air service incentive program
- Assisted residents with permits, assessments, road maintenance and public safety concerns
- Saved the County over $41,500 by waiving salary increases and expense reimbursements

- Protect the County against draconian cuts that target the most vulnerable members of society
- Improve walkability and traffic safety in Manila on State Route 255
- Complete the Arcata Ridge Trail project
- Move forward on a bike and pedestrian trail between Arcata and Eureka
