I was born in Missouri to a great father who worked in a shoe factory and a stay at home mother. When the factory closed, my dad joined President Reagan's Army -specializing in microwave communication systems.

Dad's military service took the family to many states and then overseas to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium where we resided for 2 years. As assignments change, the family, now with an addition, my little sister, we moved to Virginia where dad was now with the White House Communications Agency - in Washington, D.C. From there, it was off to Camp David, which brought us to South Central Pennsylvania, where we have been ever since.

I attended Fairfield High School, just below Gettysburg, and it was there that I met my future wife, Casie. We now have two beautiful daughters, ages 4 and almost 2.

I got my first job in high school working at a hotel washing dishes to try to save up enough money to attend college. I was selected to attend Johnson & Wales University, however, money was tight, so I applied and was accepted to Penn State University.

I worked two jobs, and quickly found I had a desire and a knack for taking hotels that had serious problems - whether they were in financial trouble, service related, had quality issues - or a combination of all three - and could turn them around. Over the years, I have been taking care of the needs of hundreds of thousands of guests.

I quickly rose through the ranks and, through hard work and the building of the right teams, became one of the youngest General Managers working at a hotel.

Turning around troubled facilities, giving people jobs, developing them in their careers, managing multi-million dollar facilities with deep roots in the communities they serve - has been a real labor of love.

Recently, my efforts were recognized by two awards I am particularly proud of: the 2011 General Manager of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association and also was the recipient of the Central Penn Business Journal's 2011 Forty under Forty award for leadership and business excellence.

I serve on numerous boards including the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau where I have been quite vocal on my opposition to tax increases and trying to further the ability of the CVB to bring tourism to York County, which relieves the pressure of taxes on the residents of the county.

In addition to the CVB I also serve on the board of the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association.

After serving people for 19 years and having turned around a lot of multi-million dollar facilities that were in trouble and struggling, after taking care of the needs of others and serving their interests, combined with effective financial decisions aimed at saving facilities from going under while building teams for the long term, creating jobs by applying common sense judgement to solve just about any problem - that is exactly what I believe is needed to turn around our state and part of the reason I hope to serve as a Representative in Harrisburg for the 92nd District.
