SID's New Headquarters

SID moved to new quarters in 2011. The move provided improved facilities and long term savings.

We considered three options:
1. Build new facilities
2. Remodel the existing facilities
3. Purchase already constructed buildings

We found that option 3, purchasing already constructed buildings, was by far the less expensive option. The timing was right. With the slow economy, already constructed buildings were available at prices much lower than it would cost SID to build new buildings or remodel the old SID facilities.

The new buildings allowed SID to bring all functions into two buildings that are close to each other. The buildings were set up to provide optimum efficiency for SID staff. They also offer room to expand, should additional space become necessary in the future.

The SID Board found that the site of the old offices on Elmira Road was more valuable as bare ground that could be developed than with the old buildings on the site. The old buildings have been demolished. We are now waiting for the right real estate market to sell the Elmira Road property.
