Staff are SID's primary asset and its largest expense. Making sure we have the right people on the SID staff and that the Board supports them in serving you is extremely important.I am grateful for the SID staff who for 60 years have made our water system one of the best in California. As a Board member, I see it as my job to do all I can to make sure SID continues to have the right people on staff and that those people are given the support and resources they need to do the job efficiently and effectively. SID will be selecting a new General Manager next year. That selection will be one of the most important decisions the SID Board makes in the next few years. The General Manager must provide leadership for the SID staff. He must have the right skills to select the right staff and to inspire that staff to perform at their best. SID will be reorganizing its staff structure next year. The past structure has served us well, but we cannot rest on our laurels. We need to continuously look for ways to do the job better with less. That will be the objective of the staff reorganization - to do the job better with less. |
