Putting California back on the path to fiscal recoveryBy Richard PanCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 5 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Getting our economy growing again is Dr. Pan's top priority. California's prosperity and health depends on creating good, family supporting jobs and supporting new businesses. As a co-founder of a small business and a university professor managing grants, Dr. Pan has created new jobs and managed budgets, payrolls, and expenses. As a physician seeing patients on the front lines of our health care system in hospitals and local clinics, Dr. Pan witnesses the struggles of families trying to make ends meet and provide for their children. Through these first-hand experiences, Dr. Pan believes in making investments in our valuable resource, the people of California, to grow our economy. No business can grow by making cuts alone; to prosper, a business has to raise capital and invest for future growth. Similarly, the solution to California's fiscal crises lies not in draconian cuts to education, health care, the environment, and infrastructure, but instead in making necessary and sustained investments that ensures an educated, healthy, prosperous population that will be both a valued workforce and customer base for California businesses. If elected to State Assembly, Dr. Pan will fight for fair, balanced and responsible state budgets that don't just pass our problems off on to our children, elderly, disabled and place blame on state employees providing vital services. He'll look for ways to strengthen our communities and local governments, and will bring an economic approach that achieves our state and District's long-term goals rather than the short-term, quick fixes that sacrifice our future prosperity. |
