We must have quality education or we risk slipping further behind other countries in both academic and vocational education.
The State of California and the country in general seem to be placing less and less importance on education. The politicians talk about education, but pay little attention to it if and when elected. With the educational budget cuts the state has been making, it is becoming harder and harder to give the quality education to our students that they, and the rest of the public deserve. Someone, school boards and the public in general must stand up and say enough is enough. The amount of money the state spends on education compared to what I understand is spent on prisons is completely out of line. It seems the state has sufficient amount of money to spend on new prisons, but not on education. I say, educate our students and you won't have to build the prisons. As a school board member, I will fight hard to reverse the decline in education and education spending so our students will have a chance to compete not only in this country, but with the world community now and in the future.
