General StatementBy Joanne Ruth "Argyres" ArgyresCandidate for Board Member; Cloverdale Unified School District | |

Qualifications and Main FocusBecause I believe in the necessity of providing an excellent education for our youth, I would like to continue to serve as a trustee of the Cloverdale Unified School District. My family and I have been a part of Cloverdale for 35 years. I have experience teaching Spanish and French in four school districts and at Santa Rosa Junior College. Upon retirement, I coordinated the North Bay Academic Decathlon for five years at the Sonoma County Office of Education. With four years of experience as a trustee of the Cloverdale Unified District and participation in the "Masters In Governance" program, which trains school board members, I have broadened my perspective and outlook. During my tenure as board president, I helped systematize the Board's annual evaluation of the superintendent and of the Board itself. My main focus has been to support the students through more transparency in policies and budget development and to encourage teacher collaboration and community involvement in a climate of fair play. Even though these are unfortunate times for our schools, the present students deserve the best governance possible from the community's representatives. I believe I can contribute meaningfully to that end. |
