Crime and Public Safety

By Robert Rickman

Candidate for Council Member; City of Tracy

This information is provided by the candidate
Do you feel safer in Tracy then you did two years ago? I have asked this questions to many citizens of Tracy and the overwhelming response has been "no." A large part of the reason is the gang related crime and violence that occurs in Tracy. In order to fix a problem, we must admit that we have one. Tracy does have a gang problem and not just a gang presence. Since I work as a peace officer in Tracy, I have first hand knowledge and experience in dealing with this problem.

The first priority of government must be to keep its citizens safe. We must protect our children, our neighborhoods, parks, streets and businesses from criminal activity. In order to respond to 911 calls as fast as possible, we must have full staffing levels of the police and fire departments. In order to attract businesses and people to Tracy we must continue our image as a safe city.
