Economic Development and JobsBy Robert RickmanCandidate for Council Member; City of Tracy | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
First and foremost, we must improve our image of being business friendly. We have to cut the bureaucratic red tape and streamline the process and do this consistently. We must also have transparency and hold our city departments accountable for there actions. In these tough economic times, we are competing with cities like Manteca, Lathrop and Stockton who also want to attract jobs, businesses and tax revenue. If we want to be competitive, we must find innovative ways to attract businesses and foster local job growth. We need to make building a business easy and less costly. The tax revenue of the businesses that come to Tracy will help fund services as well as create jobs which in turn creates tax revenue. We are the gateway between the Bay Area and the Valley. Interstate 205 is the main avenue that takes tens of thousands of people a day to and from the Bay Area. These people are passing right through Tracy everyday. We need to give them a reason to get off the freeway and come shop and build in Tracy. |
