Bill graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics. He received his Masters Degree and Ph.D in mathematics from Harvard University. He taught college level mathematics for nine years. His teaching included classes ranging from introductory mathematics to advanced seminars for senior mathematics majors.

Bill then embarked on a career in computer and network security, first as a researcher and security engineer, and then in progressively more senior management positions. He served on government policy making groups in information security and participated in groups setting national research objectives.

In 1988 Bill founded Arca Systems, one of the first companies specializing in information security. He served as the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Arca Systems where he played an active role recruiting a world class staff of information security engineers and researchers. He guided Arca through 10 successful years and then negotiated its acquisition by Exodus Communications where he served as an executive running research and consulting groups. For the last eight years, Bill has been advising new companies on areas such as product strategy, funding, and executive recruiting. He has served on the Board of Directors of several companies.

Bill has also been active in youth sports and other youth activities. He has served as a coach in baseball and soccer. He also was a coach for a local middle school team in Destination Imagination. He held various volunteer positions including serving as President of Cupertino National Little League.

Four the last four years Bill has served on the Fremont Union High School district board and currently serves as board president. During this time he has used his business experience to help find creative cost savings and build a focused organization that have allowed the district to move forward in these difficult economic times.
