Candidate for
Board Member; Alum Rock Union Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Dear Voter,

Thank you so much for your interest in my campaign for the Alum Rock Union School Board. Through collective action and collaboration, we can realize our vision for the Alum Rock community and the children who depend on our school district for a quality education and the tools needed to ensure a bright future. I am humbled to have the opportunity to be your voice through this campaign and take this responsibility with pride and purpose.

My family moved to Alum Rock in the 1950¡äs, buying a home next to Fire Station #2 behind James Lick High School. I still live in the same neighborhood and like my parents, am proud to be a graduate of Alum Rock Schools. I owe so much to our school district and to the Alum Rock teachers for providing me with an excellent education, the ability to be an independent thinker and an enthusiasm for learning ¨C the building blocks for success as an adult. My commitment to the betterment of our community started right here in Alum Rock while I was a student. Through my teachers and administrators, I learned the importance of being involved in my community and developed a passion for being part of the solution to problems rather than just identifying them.

The principles of service and responsibility instilled in me while at Alum Rock have guided me in life and push me to continue to be constantly active in projects benefiting our neighborhood. I know that strong communities start with strong schools and I ask you for the privilege to continue that service by carrying the voice of students, parents, teachers and our community to the district board room as an elected member of the governing board.

As a Boardmember of the Alum Rock Education Foundation, we fought for necessary funding through the recent bond measure and parcel tax campaigns. Now we have to implement the promises we made to our kids.

As a native resident of Alum Rock and proud graduate of Alum Rock Schools, I ask for your vote. I am a Nonprofit Healthcare Executive and previously worked as a State Legislative Representative. I have the support of many of your neighbors, teachers, former Superintendent Joe Coto, Board President Pattie Potter and Boardmembers Esau Herrera and Dolores Marquez.

I hope to meet many of you in the next few months as I canvas our neighborhood talking about local education and learning about the issues that concern you most. Please do not hesitate to approach me with your thoughts and participate in conversation as this campaign continues to shape our vision for the future of Alum Rock Schools.

Together, I am certain we can create a strong, bright and healthy future for every Alum Rock student!

Sincerely,

Darcie
