Together, we will provide the necessary reading, math and science skills our children need to be successful. We will recruit and train the best teachers for our district. We will maintain small class sizes and keep our libraries open after school. Together we can: 1.Provide Safe Schools and a Positive Learning Environment The first requirement for our kids is to provide a safe and positive learning environment. By creating partnerships with our teachers, public safety professionals and community leaders we can implement programs to keep our kids away from drugs, out of gangs and in school. 2.Engage Local Businesses Our students need to compete in the 21st Century workforce. We need to emphasize Reading, Math, and Science skills and provide real world examples of how to apply this knowledge. Silicon Valley has the most innovative businesses in the world, by partnering with these local businesses we can give our students increased exposure to career paths and they can see the real life value of what they are learn ing the classroom. 3.Teachers and Parents Working Together Working strategically with teachers, parents, educational non-profits and existing community resources, we can augment the capacity of our schools and provide more resources as revenues are diminishing. This collaboration will allow us to better serve our students, and provide them with more opportunities even in these difficult times. Together we will give the best gift possible, a great education to our children. |
