A 1950 graduate of Carpinteria High School, Fred Lemere, attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He entered the insurance business in San Francisco working for one of the major underwriters of the day before returning to Carpinteria to join with Carpinteria Insurance Agency. Fred later purchased the agency from Bob working there until he and Donna sold the agency and retired in 2000. During his long tenure in Carpinteria, Fred has served on the Santa Barbara County Parks Commission and the City of Carpinteria Parks & Recreation Commission. He is Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Santa Barbara, the Carpinteria Boys & Girls Club, Carpinteria Boosters Club and Carpinteria Lions Club. He currently serves as a supervisorial appointed director of the Carpinteria Public Cemetery District Board of Directors, serves as Vice Chairman of the Central Coast Water Authority and is a Past President of the Santa Barbara County Water Purveyors Association. Fred has been a member of the Carpinteria Valley Water District Board of Directors for 17 years serving most of those years as President of the Board. He was named Carpinterian of the Year in 1980.
