PensionsBy Jens v. MuellerCandidate for Council Member; City of Cathedral City | |

Tax payers should no longer pay for the retirement of any city employeeI have no problem with a private enterprise paying its employees a pension. I do however, have a problem with pensions being paid to employees of the city, state or federal government. Why do we reward this "special" group of employee's with a life long pension? Are they volunteering to work for free? Are they earning minimum wage, where they could be earning twice as much in the private sector? Rather than pay a pension for 30 years after an employee has left, I suggest we pay a higher salary up front and leave the retirement up to the individual. |
