SCHNEIDER - CANDIDATE STATEMENT

This is an introduction as to who I am and where I came from.

I am now and have always been a hard worker. As a child growing up in Massachusetts, I worked a variety of jobs: paperboy, dishwasher, line cook, tree trimmer, lifeguard, and painter. These experiences and education from my family laid the foundation for my positive and strong work ethic. Service to our country in the United State Marine Corps taught me perseverance, patience, teamwork, and leadership. As a Commercial Diver, I learned impossible tasks can be accomplished + even underwater and in the dark, as a team. At some point, I found that I wanted more and began attending college. Many years later I earned my degrees. College broadened my general outlook on life to the positive and simply taught me to question all data and critically think.

Now I am a professional working to cleanup environmental hazards on a daily basis. I am also an instructor of college Geology and Oceanography (at night). My wife and I waited a long time working and saving to have the opportunity to purchase a home in southern California. We specifically chose San Juan Capistrano (SJC) because it is a safe and charming community in which to raise a family. We have been living in SJC less than two years and our water rates have doubled. This action by our current City Council triggered my attention to the data, which led to more discovery and questions I had. What are our current City leaders doing? I have discovered many other actions by our City Council that I strongly disagree with or am disappointed in - that is why I am running in this election.
