Achievement GapBy Nadia SanchezCandidate for Board Member; Fullerton Joint Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Our Latino and African Americans students are under-performing in testing. In Fullerton, our Latino students are over-represented in the Alternative and Continuation programs which show little or no success in closing the gap -- scores have been stagnant. Definitely, we can not continue doing what has been done at FJUHSD. We need to look at the current district plan, review targeted intervention, level of monitoring already in-place, and how changes are being implemented in the search for continue improvement. Accountability needs to be well entrenched at all levels. The answer in eliminating the achievement gap lies in the care the board takes in managing and implementing a constant shifting of ideas and programs within the district. |
